- ➤ Provoking Hope's annual fundraiser 'Mercy is Sweet, a night of hope, stories and sweet treats' takes place on Saturday, Feb. 7 at The Foundry (700 N.W. Hill Road) from 5 to 7:30 p.m., offering free tickets with online and dessert auctions to support its peer recovery program. News-Register
- ➤ The new Yamhill Food Project (led by OSU Extension Service) seeks volunteer coordinators to form donation groups that will collect food every other month starting April 4. Coordinators will deliver the collected items to the Dayton Food Pantry (site for countywide distribution to food banks in McMinnville, Dayton, and more). News-Register

- ➤ Tickets remain available for the Schools: A Work of Heart dinner on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. at Evergreen Event Center (a fundraiser supporting local school programs with a four-course meal, wine pairings, a Battle of the Books demonstration, and auctions). News-Register
- ➤ The Oregon Department of Education announced the Class of 2025 graduated at a record 83% statewide with over 40,300 diplomas, though McMinnville schools reported a 2025 rate of 88.1% — down from 90.4% last year. Officials said the increase shows students staying in school despite state test challenges. News-Register

- ➤ Zero Waste’s Plastics Project will host The Great Plastic Roundup on Saturday, Feb. 7 at McMinnville Covenant Church (2155 N.W. Second St.) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to collect hard-to-recycle, clean and dry plastic items in large paper grocery bags for $4 per full bag. News-Register

- ➤ The Grizzlies broke a 21-day losing streak with a win over the Crimson Tide on Tuesday in Pacific Conference league play (their first win in four games) and now hope to build momentum. News-Register
- ➤ Linfield wrestling took center stage at the third Night at the Museum on Friday, Jan. 23 when historic aircraft hung overhead; the event on the Linfield University campus in McMinnville celebrated local teamwork and creative spirit. News-Register
- ➤ In 3A/2A boys basketball on Jan. 27, Amity upset Salem Academy 87 to 73 and Dayton lost 51 to 52 to Santiam Christian, while Willamina broke its losing streak with a season high 73 against Jefferson. Amity will face Blanchet Catholic and Dayton will rematch Willamina on Friday (game times vary). News-Register
