  • Unidos Bridging Community has supported Yamhill County’s diverse Latino residents for nearly 15 years by coordinating citizenship classes, cross-cultural training and law enforcement liaison programs. The nonprofit partners with local agencies (like Lutheran Family Services) to build bridges that help residents access vital resources.  News-Register

  • Florist shops in McMinnville are busy with Valentine’s Day orders as staff at Poseyland Florist select roses and prepare bouquets with heart-shaped messages. Orders are rising today to ensure every arrangement is ready for the holiday.  News-Register

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Volunteers gathered at McMinnville Covenant Church today during the 14th Great Plastic Roundup event to sort over 1,500 pounds of plastic not accepted in curbside recycling — participants traveled from Salem, Portland, Vancouver, and the Oregon Coast, and Zero Waste McMinnville sponsored the $4 per full grocery bag effort.  News-Register

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mac's girls basketball team dropped their second game as offense faltered, resulting in a 58-26 loss to Sherwood on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will tip off at 5:45 p.m. Friday in an away contest against Newberg and return home Tuesday to face Forest Grove.  News-Register
  • Local coach Christine Bader from the Valley Panthers Girls Rugby Club says flag football, which does not allow full contact, limits girls' athletic development while rugby and similar sports are growing in McMinnville and nearby regions.  News-Register
  • A new baseball academy located between McMinnville and Amity on the east side of Highway 99W offers county athletes a family-friendly, educational setting. The facility is set to boost skills and bring more local sports programs soon.  News-Register
  • Jordan Harlow is set to begin his role as Linfield baseball's 12th head coach ahead of the season-opening series against Eastern Oregon University, fulfilling a long-held dream at his alma mater.  News-Register
