- ➤ Hillside Adventures in Learning will host four speaker sessions in April and community members are invited to attend; sessions begin Tuesday, April 1, at 2 p.m. in the Manor activity room for $5 admission and light refreshments after each talk. - ➤ Chili chefs can still sign up for the Yamhill County Chili Cook-Off, scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. on April 12 at ForeLand Beer, 777 N.E. Fourth St in McMinnville and the sign-up deadline is today. - ➤ McMinnville City Council and the School District Board of Directors will meet Monday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the MSD office, 800 N.E. Lafayette Ave to discuss emergency management and after-school care. The meeting will review expiring agreements and previous discussions on funding scholarships for low-income students — talks that happened twice last year. News-Register
- ➤ Senate Bill 243-1, posted online Wednesday, would raise Oregon’s gun possession age to 21 and require a 72-hour wait for gun purchases; it would also make owning a switch device that turns a gun into full-automatic a Class A misdemeanor—an issue that split lawmakers during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
