EDUCATION NEWS

  • McMinnville High School is adding cosmetology classes in a space that looks like a sleek salon. The program will teach students hair styling, barbering, and manicuring skills.  News-Register

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • McMinnville city staff is recommending 16 actions to spur housing production as part of a state-mandated land planning process—officials will review these proposals to meet Oregon law requirements.  News-Register
  • Lawmakers cleared a key legislative hurdle Tuesday by approving an $82 million plan for summer learning programs over the next 2 years and 3 months in Oregon—this plan includes $35 million for summer 2025—and will help schools manage short planning timelines. The funding aims to address the tight schedule that schools face in preparing these programs.  The Oregonian
  • The McMinnville Fire District adopted its new operations guide (standards of cover) at its board meeting last week. District officials said the guide will direct updated emergency response procedures for the district.  News-Register
  • Court records from March 31 show a wide range of civil judgments, criminal probation outcomes, marriage licenses, divorces, and probate filings that involve both McMinnville residents and local parties—highlighting active legal actions in our area.
