Good morning, McMinnville.

McMinnville High School’s annual Mission Mac High pageant — a fundraiser for Doernbecher Children's Hospital — will be held on April 17 at the McMinnville Community Center.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Head Start of Yamhill County remains stable this week as Executive Director Suey Linzmeier said the program is in good shape (despite a regional shake-up that surprised many).

City leaders and school board members met Monday to discuss partnering with a nonprofit to raise money for scholarships that help 21 low-income students attend after-school care at the YMCA.

Mayor Kim Morris and Superintendent Debbie Brockett said they plan a community event similar to the former Mayor’s Ball—set to boost funds needed to cover monthly costs of about $450 per student—and will meet with another nonprofit later this week.

An Oregon bill would let the governor pick a temporary U.S. senator if a seat becomes empty, and a special election will occur 80 to 150 days later.

Lawmakers say the change will keep Oregon fully represented in Washington — though some voters worry it might affect election fairness.

Chick-fil-A is offering a free breakfast item every Tuesday in April at its Oregon and southwest Washington locations (April 1: Chicken Biscuit; April 8: Hash Brown Scramble Burrito or Bowl; April 15: Spicy Chicken Biscuit; April 22: 4ct Chick-n-Minis; April 29: Chicken Biscuit) as part of a month-long promotion.
