- ➤ McMinnville School Superintendent Debbie Brockett went on an open-ended leave on Friday (after receiving a positive evaluation) amid rumors that the board will consider termination of her contract at a meeting Monday night (6:30 p.m. at the district office, 800 N.E. Lafayette Avenue). District leaders will manage the 6,300-student system as the district faces budget shortages and possible federal funding cuts. News-Register

- ➤ Astronomers discovered comet C/2025 F2 (SWAN) on March 29 and report that the green-tinted comet is visible now on the east-northeast horizon before sunrise. Sky watchers in McMinnville will see it brighten as it nears its closest pass on May 1. The Oregonian
