  • Okta Farm & Table reopens today at the Tributary Hotel in downtown McMinnville as local farm produce becomes fresh. The restaurant offers a four-course dinner starting at 5 p.m. with seating available until 9 p.m.  News-Register

CULTURE NEWS

  • Libraries throughout Oregon have launched a coastwide book club for One Book, One Coast featuring George Takei’s graphic memoir They Called Us Enemy (running until May 31). Local branches will host discussions, workshops and screenings to help residents learn about its historic themes.  The Oregonian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Linfield are upset that the second REM proposal was not released even though an initial plan was shared to reduce a budget deficit. Faculty input is being gathered as university leaders plan to offer a revised draft on April 20 and a final proposal on May 7.  The Linfield Review

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Skywatchers can view the Lyrid meteor shower from April 14 to April 30, with the peak on April 22 & the best show between April 21 and April 23. The waxing crescent moon will help pre-dawn observers see more meteors away from city lights.  The Oregonian

SPORTS NEWS

  • McMinnville’s varsity girls tennis team earned its first win over Sherwood in five years — a milestone that has set a positive tone as they prepare for the new season ahead.  News-Register
  • Mac's boys finished fourth and the girls won in Hillsboro, keeping the Grizzlies in the conference race. Coach Willie Graham said strong performances from newcomers Gage Slaughter & Kaden Robinson have put the team in a good spot ahead of next Tuesday’s league match at Rock Creek Golf Course.  News-Register
