- ➤ On May 2, a swarm of over 8,000 bees gathered on a downtown Newberg sidewalk in front of a boutique, so retired educator Paul Jellum stepped in to rescue them using his bee box and a few puffs of bee smoke. Jellum, who has kept bees for nearly a decade, worked with police setting up traffic cones + safely collected the bees for relocation. The Oregonian

- ➤ The Oregon State University Extension Service is offering McMinnville residents clear guidance on turning backyards into pollinator gardens by advising them to plan the space, remove weeds, and prepare the soil.
