  • Linfield President Mark Blegen presented a draft strategic framework aimed at finishing the Balanced Budget Initiative and refining programs amid recent enrollment changes. He held over 30 listening sessions in the fall and emailed students on Feb. 24, inviting grassroots feedback to shape future initiatives.  The Linfield Review

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon lawmakers warned that federal wildfire response agencies may not be fully staffed for the 2026 fire season due to staff and budget cuts. They voiced their concerns during a briefing in Portland.  News-Register

  • Voting is open for Oregon Softball Player of the Week through Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Coaches, fans and readers nominated standout local players, and the winner will be announced Monday.  The Oregonian
  • Local voters can cast their vote for the Oregon High School Team of the Week with submissions closing Sunday at 11:59 p.m. & the winning team announced Monday.  The Oregonian
  • McMinnville boys and girls varsity tennis teams will play in upcoming district tournaments, and Head Coaches say strong mindsets are key to handling tough matches — the teams are focused on teamwork as they prepare to compete.  News-Register
  • The No. 13-ranked Grizzlies rallied for a walk-off win over high-ranked Glencoe during Pacific Conference play in Mac Softball & improved their record to 11-10.  News-Register
  • Yamhill Carlton’s Tigers extended an 11-game win streak, beating Willamina/Sheridan on May 4 and Warrenton, while Bulldogs + Pirates earned key wins. Amity Warriors broke a 15-game skid with a win over Blanchet Catholic, keeping playoff bids in Special District 3 in contention.  News-Register
