- ➤ Experts at the Oregon Health Authority advised backyard chicken owners to watch for signs of bird flu — including sudden death, low energy, ruffled feathers, swollen combs and wattles, reduced egg production, and respiratory issues — and to call the State Veterinarian if these symptoms occur. They also explained that people born before 1957 are presumed immune to measles while older adults should check their COVID-19 vaccine records to see if they are due for an additional dose.
