CRIME NEWS

  • Jason Gillis, 52, did not respond to a U.S. Trustee complaint, and a default bankruptcy judgment entered Monday left him liable for over $1.7 million after he defrauded elderly investors by misusing funds and forging signatures—his last known address was in McMinnville.  The Oregonian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 14, Linfield held a town hall where administration explained plans to cut the budget—facing a $4.9 million deficit from declining enrollment—and asked CAS faculty for feedback until July 4. Students left the meeting with more questions than answers and voiced frustration over the lack of clear information.  The Linfield Review

  • Oregon state parks will waive parking and camping fees for tent, RV and horse sites on June 7 for State Parks Day—several parks will host free events while fees still apply to cabins, yurts and rental shelters.  The Oregonian
