Good morning, McMinnville. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 17th of June.
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A bill that would require landlords to refund deposits if a rental unit is uninhabitable has passed both the House and Senate and now heads to Gov. Tina Kotek’s desk for approval — the law would require refunds within five days or impose a fee unless delayed by emergencies. The Oregonian

- ➤ House Bill 3819, signed last week, raised fines for unlicensed massage businesses from $1,000 to $5,000 and reclassified repeat violations as a felony—though dropped provisions allowing hearsay to be used in cutting off illicit operations. Legislators and advocates noted the law may only partly curb the rise in sex trafficking spas and plan to revisit these measures in the next session. The Oregonian
- ➤ Governor Kotek said Monday that she supports using the Rainy Day Fund interest to pay for wildfire mitigation and suppression while warning that lawmakers have not delivered a long-term funding solution before the session ends June 29. She urged finding as much one-time funding as possible to keep our community safe—though she noted that the interest may change over time. The Oregonian
