GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Oregon legislators passed a bill that requires utilities to add grid-enhancing technology — like sensors and new wires that carry more power — to boost capacity on existing transmission lines instead of building new ones. The law also mandates that power companies file updated improvement plans every two years to meet growing energy needs and renewable energy goals.  The Oregonian
  • The Oregon Department of Energy is accepting applications for its new Heat Pump Purchase Program that offers $2,000 in incentives for new heat pump installations. The program will provide up to 6,000 incentives in two rounds—1,000 for owner-occupied homes, 3,000 for rental homes, and 2,000 for new housing—and approved contractors like Dr. HVAC in McMinnville will help customers get the savings.  News-Register
