CRIME NEWS
- ➤ DMV officials warned that residents received scam texts claiming they have unpaid traffic tickets and urging them to pay using fake links (the messages cite phony administration codes). The department said it never requests personal information via texts and advised residents to delete these messages and block the numbers. The Oregonian
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Intel began notifying workers Monday about major layoffs that will cut thousands of jobs, including a reduction of 15–20% in its Oregon manufacturing division and the shutdown of its automotive technology business. The cuts—similar in scale to last year's—are expected to deeply affect Oregon's high-wage semiconductor industry and local suppliers. The Oregonian
