Lori and John Wallick’s yard in McMinnville was named Yard of the Month for August by the McMinnville Garden Club after residents enjoyed watching Snoopy dance on the porch and nap on the Little Free Library.

The yard—transformed over 19 years with hydrangeas, a dry creek bed, and creative touches—now attracts birds and neighbors alike.

Residents in Yamhill County will attend National Night Out parties on Tuesday, August 5, with McMinnville’s event running from 5 to 8 p.m. at Discovery Meadows Park — it will include food trucks, an ice cream trailer, face painting and a police-used bike sale, while other communities host similar events — offering free food, games and public safety displays.

On July 31, the Yamhill County Board of Commissioners upheld staff approval for a proposed winery and tasting room outside Yamhill—neighbors had raised concerns about the project.
