- ➤ The Oregon Public Utility Commission has implemented new rules that stop PGE, Pacific Power & Idaho Power from disconnecting nonpaying customers during extreme heat warnings and for two days after. Customers who lost power up to three days before a heat wave can call to reconnect for free, with the protections in effect through October. The Oregonian
- ➤ The city is proposing a $98.5 million bond to build a new combined community and aquatic center next to Joe Dancer Park on Riverside Drive and to upgrade the library, senior center, parks and outdoor recreation areas; advocates claim the plan will serve the community for 75 to 100 years — a strategy aimed at countering rising replacement costs if improvements are delayed.
