- ➤ The McMinnville Women’s Choir will start rehearsals for its fall season on Tuesday, Sept. 16 — a welcome back event that begins at 7 p.m. in the McMinnville First Baptist Church — and both returnees and new members are invited to join. News-Register
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Oregon’s Department of Human Services will update foster parent training to stress safe sleep practices after at least seven infants died from unsafe sleep conditions this year. The new training, set to be ready by Jan. 1, will advise against using products like DockATot Deluxe+—no longer sold in the US—for infant sleep setups. The Oregonian

- ➤ Last month, Taylor Lumber & Treating pleaded guilty in Yamhill County Circuit Court to 10 counts of unlawful water pollution—linked to decades of toxic waste escaping from its plant upstream of Sheridan’s water supply.
