  • McMinnville residents are invited to a design workshop on Sept. 13 at Kent Taylor Civic Hall to guide planning for the new southwest neighborhood—staff will offer an overview and lead roundtable discussions on what makes neighborhoods work.  News-Register
  • McMinnville’s 2025 Veterans Day Parade is set for 10 a.m. on Nov. 8 downtown, with staging beginning at 9 a.m. Organizers are seeking veterans groups, bands, schools, and other organizations to join.  News-Register

CULTURE NEWS

  • The McMinnville Women’s Choir will start rehearsals for its fall season on Tuesday, Sept. 16 — a welcome back event that begins at 7 p.m. in the McMinnville First Baptist Church — and both returnees and new members are invited to join.  News-Register

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Oregon’s Department of Human Services will update foster parent training to stress safe sleep practices after at least seven infants died from unsafe sleep conditions this year. The new training, set to be ready by Jan. 1, will advise against using products like DockATot Deluxe+—no longer sold in the US—for infant sleep setups.  The Oregonian

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Last month, Taylor Lumber & Treating pleaded guilty in Yamhill County Circuit Court to 10 counts of unlawful water pollution—linked to decades of toxic waste escaping from its plant upstream of Sheridan’s water supply. The case shows that government checks are weak as officials plan new limits on dangerous chemicals.  News-Register
