CULTURE NEWS

  • The Yamhill County History Museum is the new name for the heritage center southwest of McMinnville and the organization that runs it, a change meant to help locals find it online and show that it is open to everyone interested in history—Heather Farquar said the museum now welcomes new members for history programs and events. The 17-acre site at 11275 S.W. Durham Lane is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with $5 admission—visitors can explore local heritage during their visit.  News-Register

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kelsey Murray from Yamhill County Public Health is leading the Mental Health Safe Zone program—an initiative that trains local businesses and organizations to adopt mental health policies and provide suicide prevention resources—and she hopes to expand the program across McMinnville and other parts of Yamhill County. The program offers free trainings and requires staff participation to help create a supportive environment for those in need.  News-Register
