COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ West Valley Rotary organized a coat drive in Willamina and Sheridan that will run until Dec. 1 to help West Valley students stay warm this season. Local staff reported that while drop-off boxes in Sheridan are filling up, Willamina City Hall has received only about five coats so far — a sign the drive needs more support. News-Register
- ➤ Living Waters Outreach provides free clothing to people in need in McMinnville — run by Pam Rude and her husband Cohn — and works with local nonprofits on set days each month to offer items like shirts, pants, and blankets. The ministry gives away about 120 to 130 pieces weekly and is asking for donations of small underwear, jeans, and warm coats as colder weather approaches. News-Register
- ➤ In 1998, volunteer organizations around the world designated November 13 as World Kindness Day to honor small and big acts of kindness in every community. The News-Register received many local submissions—featuring food pantry efforts, returning lost items, and volunteer work—that show how kindness connects neighbors. News-Register
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Holiday train rides across Oregon and southwest Washington are offering themed excursions with scenic views—some rides have started and others will run through December, with riders enjoying warm drinks and a visit from Santa. Ticket prices vary by railroad and ride duration. The Oregonian

- ➤ Citizens can support a footbridge project for walking access at Ewing Young Park by attending an open house from 5—7 p.m. Wednesday, November 19 at Chehalem Park & Recreation District headquarters in Newberg, and a virtual session will run from 4—6 p.m. November 20. News-Register

- ➤ The Mac high school volleyball team earned four All-League honors this season. Three seniors — Payton Daum, Peyton Ruden and Renae Dittner — and junior Molly Tharp were recognized for their standout play as the team looks forward to rebuilding next season. News-Register
- ➤ Friday, November 14, Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore broke a program record by completing 27 of 30 passes at a 90% rate for 306 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-13 win over Minnesota at Autzen Stadium—he adjusted quickly with a visor after a recent nose injury. The Oregonian
