COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Thanksgiving events will be held across the county from November 23 to November 27—Sheridan will host a Friendsgiving potluck and market at Buell Grange Hall, Dayton and Willamina will offer food box drive-thru events, and McMinnville will see a Thanksgiving dinner drive-thru at the Salvation Army along with charity yoga at the McMinnville Grand, a Friendsgiving dinner at By-Pass, and the Yam Fam Harvest Run and Walk on Thanksgiving morning. St. Barnabas will serve a Thanksgiving meal on November 26.  News-Register
  • The Lafayette Fire Department Toy Drive will accept applications from residents up to age 12 until Dec. 1 with drop-offs at Station 10 or Lafayette City Hall, and donations will be accepted until Dec. 20. The McMinnville Fire District will collect unwrapped toys, cash and other gifts until Dec. 12 to help families in need — wrapping parties for present preparation are also planned.  News-Register

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Wortman Stadium, Mac soccer teams earned 19 All-League honors — both varsity squads made the playoffs, with Coach Adam Howard repeating as Coach of the Year and junior forward Edwin 'Isai' Cuevas-George earning Player of the Year after scoring 24 goals this season.  News-Register
  • Today at 2 p.m. at Wortman Stadium, No. 1 Cascade (11-0) faces No. 4 Scappoose (10-1) in the 4A football semifinal hosted in McMinnville. The winner will advance to the state championship contest and meet the victor from the Marshfield and Henley game at 4:30 p.m. at Grants Pass High School.  News-Register
