CULTURE NEWS

  • The Community Christmas Cantata Choir begins its 39th season Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. at Amity Christian Church with free admission and donations for the YCAP food bank; six more performances are scheduled nearby and may shift with weather.  News-Register
  • Linfield University’s beginning directing class presented The Dining Room on Friday and is showing it today at 7:30 p.m. in Kenneth W. Ford Hall near Highway 99W; tickets cost $7 for the general public and $5 for students, and the play is recommended for ages 13 and older.  News-Register

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • McMinnville resident Birpal Johal is challenging a denied gas station development in Carlton — the city council will meet Tuesday, Dec. 9 to review potential code changes for the project.  News-Register

SPORTS NEWS

  • Amity girls basketball was named the preseason 3A No. 1 when OSAA coaches recognized the team after an undefeated winter season and State Championship; the team will start a challenging season soon.  News-Register
