➤ Jeff Newton from Christensen Farms (near Amity) is investing in hazelnut trees amid challenges for other crops and a boost in hazelnut farming in the Willamette Valley; data show acreage has more than doubled over seven years and state production is expected to triple in coming years. ➤ Tickets are available for Swingin’ On a Star, the annual fundraiser for school music programs at the McMinnville Community Center on Saturday, Jan. 24.
